Hanoi Book Street closes until end-March on Covid-19

Bookstores in Hanoi Book Street will stop selling to comply with the government’s directive on social distancing and avoidance of public gatherings to prevent Covid-19 pandemic.

Hanoi Book Street in Hoan Kiem district will be closed to costumers until the end of March, according to the Management Board of the Book Street.

The decision aims to protect health of Hanoians and tourists against the complicated spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. After the announcement, bookstores and cafes in the street have been shut down.


Many publishers and bookstores such as Kim Dong Publishing House, Phuong Nam bookstores, Nha Nam Culture and Media JSC have also informed readers about the suspension of activities in Hanoi Book Street.

 

At the same time, the publishers and bookstores have boosted their book selling online to offset the loss due to the closure of physical stores.


The Board will announce the re-opening schedule in accordance with the direction of the city and district-level authorities. During this time, Hanoi Book Street will be cleaned and disinfected regularly to ensure safety in preparation for the re-opening.
