Hanoi deploys checkpoints at major roads to prevent import of disease threats

Covid-19 suspected people and those coming from the pandemic-hit areas must turn around.

Hanoi's functional forces deployed 22 checkpoints from July 14 morning to curb the Covid-19 spread, many drivers had to turn around because they have not met the requirements of the pandemic prevention.

All people coming to Hanoi have to measure their body temperature and fill in the medical declaration form. The functional forces also reviewed the Covid-19 prevention work on all vehicles and tested people suspected of being infected with the novel coronavirus.

Returnees from 14 Covid-19-stricken cities and provinces across Vietnam must test negative for coronavirus within three days; otherwise, they are not allowed to enter the capital city.

Colonel Tran Ngoc Duong, deputy director of the Hanoi Police, said that the 22 checkpoints have been set up to control the flow of all vehicles and people between Hanoi and other provinces and cities.

However, the police will not cause traffic congestion, and the maintenance of production and business activities will be given the highest priority amid the pandemic, Duong noted.
