Mr. Hung made the statement at a recent meeting with the Hanoi Management Board of Investment, Construction Projects on Water supply, Drainage and Environment.

The municipal government has asked the project management board to actively coordinate with related departments and agencies in urging contractors to speed up the implementation of the four works, ensure their quality and environment protection, minimize impact on transport in the city and comply with the law.
Among the four projects, the local government has attached the highest importance to the Yen Xa sewage treatment site, which is urgent for environmental treatment in the city and is the issue of major concern of local residents.
Yen Xa wastewater treatment site in Thanh Tri district is a key and vital project as it would collect and purify sewage discharged by people in seven districts in Hanoi, especially waste water from the city’s dying To Lich river. It is expected to also revive the river which has been heavily polluted for decades.
In order to accelerate the project, which comprises a centralized sewage treatment facility, as the site stretches different districts, Hanoi’s authority has asked the contractors to implement the construction simultaneously.
The Yen Xa waste water treatment project kicked off in 2016, with a factory capable of handling 270,000 cubic meters of waste water per day and a sewage collection system along the To Lich and Lu rivers with a total length of over 52 kilometers. The project costs a total of more than VND16,000 trillion (US$693 million).
The Yen Xa wastewater treatment project includes four bidding packages. Bidding packages No.2 and 3 to build the sewage collection systems along the To Lich and Lu rivers kicked start on May 18, 2020 while package 4 is expected to build a sewer system for a part of Ha Dong district and a new urban area.
The Hanoi Management Board of Investment, Construction Projects on Water supply, Drainage and Environment said that the progress is in accordance with the plan and the project would be completed in 2022.
