Hanoi recognizes top 150 primary school teachers
The 150 winners were shortlisted from almost 20,000 primary school teachers who entered the contest.
Hanoi's Education Department commended the top 150 primary school teachers in the citywide 2024-2025 Outstanding Teachers and Homeroom Teachers contest on January 14.
In total, nearly 20,000 elementary school teachers entered the contest. There were 33 first-place winners, 55 second-place winners, 54 third-place winners, and eight winners of consolation prizes. Twelve teachers received special recognition for overcoming adversity.
These individuals excelled in two preliminary rounds at the school and district levels to qualify for the citywide finals. The competition is designed to honor teachers who achieve excellence, inspire self-improvement, and encourage creativity and personal growth.
Beyond individual recognition, the competition improves the effectiveness of teaching and learning in all schools and serves as a platform to evaluate the capacity of Hanoi's teaching workforce.
The results guide schools in developing teacher training plans and improving infrastructure and equipment to enhance the quality of education. For the first time, the competition also covered computer science-related topics and how teachers incorporate local issues into experiential learning activities.
Activities were student-centered and closely tied to real-world issues to encourage critical thinking. A variety of teaching methods and techniques, as well as artificial intelligence tools, were effectively used to deliver engaging, relatable, and inspiring lessons.
Tran The Cuong, Director of Hanoi's Department of Education and Training, said it is essential to continue developing the professional skills of teachers, school administrators and educational institutions.
He urged local teachers to become the core drivers of the movement titled 'Schools Unite for Development – Teachers Share Responsibility”.
"Education departments and schools should amplify the exemplary lessons and entries of outstanding teachers submitted to the contest," he said.
He encouraged schools to harness the power of information technology and upload videos of outstanding lessons and contest entries to online platforms so that other teachers, parents and students can learn from them.
Emphasizing the role of the contest in assessing professional standards and shaping policies to support teachers, Director Cuong said the winners must improve their expertise, share their experiences with colleagues, and contribute to the continued growth of the education sector in the New Era - an era of national progress.
