Hanoians are flocking to Hang Ma Street to purchase traditional objects and decorations for the Lunar New Year.

Hang Ma Street in Hanoi's Old Quarter has been decked out in red as the Lunar New Year (Tet holiday), the biggest and most important in Vietnam, is fast approaching.

 

With just two weeks to go until the Lunar New Year, the atmosphere on Hang Ma Street is already extremely festive. The street is a popular place for both residents and tourists in Hanoi to purchase Tet items each year.

 

Shops along the street have meticulously prepared for the upcoming holiday by displaying an array of colorful decorations, allowing visitors to enjoy the festive atmosphere.


Numerous local residents are flocking to Hang Ma Street to purchase traditional objects and decorations for the Lunar New Year.

Visitors to the street can view an array of lanterns, flowers, and other decorative items on show.

Colorful stickers sending wishes of luck and prosperity ahead of the Lunar New Year can be seen throughout the street.

Peach and apricot flowers made of cloth and plastic are used for decoration.

Locals view the street as an ideal place in which to snap memorable photos.

 

Envelopes for lucky money are an indispensable part of every Tet holiday. A package containing 10 envelopes costs around US$0.43-0.65.
