Heavy rains together with strong winds and whirlwinds have flooded Danang city and Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa provinces.

Many flights have been canceled without a new timetable.

Among affected localities, Danang suffered the most with the rainfall of 240mm, leaving many parts flooded 1.5 meters under the water. Locals said that the city suffered the largest-ever rain and flood.

No damage in the affected areas has been calculated so far.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, rains will continue falling in the central region from Thanh Hoa province to Phu Yen, submerging many zones and causing threats of flash flood and land slide in mountainous areas.

Natural disasters claimed 386 lives and caused damage worth VND60 trillion (US$2.6 billion) in Vietnam in 2017.
