Linh Lang - Sacred Convergence: Long Bien shines in cultural celebration

The art program "Linh Lang - Sacred Convergence - Long Bien Shines" will honor the historical and cultural significance of Linh Lang Lord through a captivating blend of traditional rituals, performances, and cutting-edge 3D mapping technology.

The art program dedicated to Linh Lang Lord with the theme "Linh Lang - Sacred Convergence - Long Bien Shines" will be held on March 8 at the Truong Lam Communal House and Pagoda Relic Complex, Viet Hung Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi.

According to Nguyen Manh Ha, Chairman of Long Bien District People's Committee, the art program is organized during the Linh Lang Dai Vuong Festival, which is held at many relics throughout the country.

The program is expected to recreate the legend of Linh Lang Lord most uniquely, introducing the traditional rituals and beliefs of 13 Linh Lang Lord places of worship in the district; featuring the performance of the traditional "snake shedding" dance ritual of the Truong Lam Communal House Festival to honor historical values, cultural quintessence and express the beliefs and aspirations of the people in life.

This is an opportunity to review the historical and cultural traditions on Long Bien land associated with the heroic tradition of Thang Long-Hanoi.

In particular, the program aims to promote the government's role in caring for the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural values and the historical values of relics in the Linh Lang Lord worship relic system, contributing to driving the development of spiritual cultural tourism economy, to concretize the content of "Development of Cultural Industry in the Capital, Period 2021 - 2025, Orientation to 2030, Vision to 2045" in Long Bien District.

According to General Director Mai Thanh Tung, the artistic program will continue to be designed in the form of semi-real scenes combined with 3D mapping technology. The music has folk and modern sounds, and the lighting technology shows the flow of history through many stages. The performances were elaborately invested, recreating the legend of Linh Lang Lord, honoring the patriotism and water control work of the people, and the faith and aspiration of Long Bien in the era of national development.

The successive scenes were subtly transformed by special effects, attractive music and various forms of expression such as singing, dancing, drumming, and ao dai (long dress) performance.

The highlight of the program was the procession and offering of the Linh Lang Lord Festival with the participation of many generations of people from Long Bien District, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity in the community; the snake dance ritual combined with the 3D mapping performance was full of artistry and contained a profound message.

In the document written by the Academy of Grand Scholar Nguyen Binh in 1572, Linh Lang Lord was the son of King Ly Thanh Tong and his mother was Princess Hao Nuong.

He made great contributions to defeating the Song invaders at the end of the 11th century. To commemorate his merits, the king conferred on him the title of Linh Lang Lord and ordered a temple to be built on Long Thu hill, now Voi Phuc Temple, to worship him. Many places in the country also built temples to worship him, including 13 places in Long Bien.

At present, Linh Lang Lord Festival is held in many places in the country, especially the Truong Lam Communal House Festival - a festival that was listed as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2018.
