Samsung and NIC partner to develop Vietnam's tech talent pool

This is the first collaboration between Samsung Vietnam and NIC to support Vietnam's goal of 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030.

Samsung Vietnam, in cooperation with the National Innovation Center (NIC), kicked off the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) for the academic year 2023-2024 at the NIC campus in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park on May 3.

The SIC program will offer classes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and  Big Data for about 200 students from some member universities of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and FPT University.

Courses will be held in the SIC Lab classrooms at NIC Hoa Lac from May to August.

Speaking at the ceremony on May 3, Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, said that the Samsung Innovation Campus program has been officially launched and will serve as an exemplary model for training Vietnamese youth to become technology talents.

He added that the program is not only offered by Samsung, the largest foreign-invested company in Vietnam, to outstanding students from top prestigious universities but is also organized at NIC, where the Vietnamese government concentrates many resources on technology research and development.

He also said that the current environment presents significant opportunities for young Vietnamese. In order for Vietnamese youth to develop into technology talents and fully realize their potential, active cooperation and support from the government, enterprises, and educational institutions are essential.

Specifically, participants in the program will also receive free Korean language training and have the opportunity to meet with engineers at Samsung's R&D Center for career guidance in information technology.

Students who excel in the program can intern and work at Samsung's R&D center in Vietnam.

To enhance the program's sustainability, SIC also organizes training courses for teachers to help improve their professional and pedagogical skills and practical teaching skills. The courses are designed by top experts from Samsung and major research institutions and universities nationwide.

This is the first collaboration between Samsung Vietnam and NIC to achieve Vietnam's goal of training 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030.

The cooperation is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2023 between the two sides to implement educational projects and high-tech development for the young generation in Vietnam.

The agreement aims to cultivate technology talent and make Vietnam a destination for innovation in the region and the world. It is a concrete outcome in line with the vision of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to transform NIC into a hub for intellectual convergence and spread the benefits of innovation in Vietnam.
