Vietnam, Poland boost parliamentary ties
The legislative bodies of Vietnam and Poland should increase reciprocal visit exchanges to share experience in legislation, contributing to multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The view was shared by Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and visiting Vice Speaker of the Polish parliament Jerzy Wenderlich at a meeting in Hanoi on December 17.
Both sides agreed to work closely to oversee their governments implement cooperation agreements, creating favourable legal corridors for their business communities to promote trade and investment ties.
They said despite the global economic downturn, two-way trade value has kept rising over the years, but has yet to match the two countries’ potential.
Ngan proposed both sides identify prioritised areas of cooperation and take measures to raise bilateral trade value to US$1 billion in the coming time.
She affirmed Poland is a traditional friend and a priority partner of Vietnam in Central and Eastern Europe.
Political-diplomatic ties between the two countries and their legislative bodies have developed well in recent times through high-level visit exchanges, including a Poland visit in January 2013 by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Jerzy Wenderlich said despite their geographical distance, bilateral friendship has been cemented, and cooperation between their legislative bodies has been boosted, helping foster multifaceted cooperation between Poland and Vietnam.
