Construction o­n a four-star resort at Ban Gioc waterfalls in Trung Khanh district, the mountainous northern province of Cao Bang, began o­n December 8.

To ensure traffic security during Tet holidays, the Department of Traffic Police under Hanoi Public Security decided to increase the number of police at trouble spots.  Accordingly, 300 traffic police students will be sent out to direct traffic to serve people o­n the occasion of Tet.

On September 28 the State Bank of Vietnam announced that they would start collecting the older cotton 10,000 VND and 20,000 VND notes beginning January 1, 2013, as those two notes will be taken out of circulation.

Vietnam currently has more than 200,000 veterans exposed to Agent Orange/Dioxin and infected with some diseases identified by the US Medical Academy.
