The newest infections drive up the country’s total caseload to 431.
Among the latest infected cases who are linked to Danang Hospital, four are health workers, according to the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
Since the first locally-transmitted case was detected in Danang on July 24, Vietnam has confirmed 14 more people infected with the novel coronavirus in the community.
The detection has prompted the local authorities to immediately take drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus by pursuing aggressive contact tracing, quarantining, testing, and isolating some areas, mostly hospitals.
Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho said about 10,000 people need to be tested and risks of transmission among health workers are very high.
Currently, as many as 15,000 people are under quarantine nationwide.
As of July 28, the number of convalescents hits 366, accounting for 84.9% of the tally.
Vietnam has reported no deaths caused by Covid-19. At present, two cases namely Patient No.416, the first locally-transmitted infection in months, and Patient No.418 are in critical conditions.
Earlier, Patient No.91, a British man, who was the most gravely-ill Covid-19 patient in Vietnam and had to depend on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), recovered and was flown home on July 12.
