Hanoi-based soprano releases new song in three languages
Do To Hoa is one of the leading chamber vocalists in Vietnam today with a high soprano voice. She co-operates with rapper Ha Le to release a new music production in three languages.
Singer Do To Hoa and rapper Ha Le have released their new single Shi Ni (It's You) in Chinese (lyrics by Meng Ran), Vietnamese (lyrics by Pham Lich) and English (lyrics by Ha Le).
Shi Ni was released in China in 2022 and soon became such a huge hit online that many composers remixed it in different languages. Vietnamese singer Pham Lich also covered the song and released the Vietnamese version five months ago. So far, the song has been viewed 28 million times on Pham Lich's YouTube channel.

Hoa won the chamber music category of the Sao Mai 2017 singing contest. She then earned a master's degree in vocal performance in China.
After returning home, Hoa still promotes her forte in chamber music and tries out new styles. Hoa constantly tries to reinvent herself through music and wants to use her inherent Chinese treasure in musical endeavors. She currently works as a lecturer in Hanoi.
Vietnamese musicians now cover Chinese songs more frequently as the Vietnamese public becomes more exposed to Chinese music. Hoa wants to make the most of this chance to create new musical products based on popular songs. The intersection of language and culture in music is fascinating, she said.
Hoa anticipated that It's You would be a gift to the Vietnamese and Chinese audiences and that they would love it. The project is also a new experience for her music, as she delivers a song combining pop, ballad and EDM.
That's why she decided to cover It's You and release the single on digital music platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.
This is the new style of performance that To Hoa is going for with this song and other songs in the near future, with a rap performance in both English and Vietnamese by Ha Le.
Producer and musician Tung Tic, known for his acoustic guitar music, works as the musical director of the It's You project, making the song more colorful and fresh.
