Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City ranks fourth among world’s busiest air routes
Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City has moved up to be the second busiest domestic route in the world in October.
Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City has been listed among the world's busiest domestic air routes in 2022, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Director of the CAAV Dinh Viet Thang announced that it is the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route is listed in the top four busiest domestic routes in the world. It ranked sixth in the pre-pandemic year 2019.
The latest report conducted by OAG, the global travel data provider, showed that the number of seats sold on this route between October 2021 and the end of September 2022 was more than 8.5 million.
The following are South Korea’s Jeju-Seoul route (16 million), Japan’s Sapporo New Chitose Apt-Tokyo (10.2 million), and Fukuoka-Tokyo (nearly 9.9 million).
According to the UK-based aviation analysis company, in October, Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City has moved up to be the second busiest domestic route with one million seats and a capacity increase of 6% compared to last month.
In June, the International Air Transport Association assessed Vietnam has led the world’s fastest-recovering domestic aviation market, followed by Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Spain, Turkey and Australia.
According to the CAAV, in the first nine months of the year, the number of passengers travelling across 22 airports was 75 million, up 162% on-year, including 6.7 million international visitors and 68.3 million domestic ones.
During January-September, the number of inbound/outbound flights reached 351,000, up 117.8% over the same period last year. Transit flights were 127,000, an increase of 59.1% on-year.
