Hanoi hosts Vietnamese Goods Week 2024 to promote domestic consumption
Vietnamese Goods Week plays an important role in promoting traditional handicrafts, local specialties, and Hanoi's tourism potential.
The Vietnamese Goods Week 2024, held in Hanoi, brought together more than 100 businesses from 30 localities across the country to promote domestic consumption.
With the participation of 150-170 booths from local businesses and producers, the week has marked a significant event in the promotion of Vietnamese-made products by showcasing over 1,000 One Commune One Product (OCOP) products, industrial goods, handicrafts, safe and organic food, and others.
Launched by the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) on December 20, the event aims to promote the "Vietnamese People Give Priority to Using Vietnamese Goods" campaign of the city's Department of Industry and Trade, and features an exhibition area for export-oriented products and a food court.

HPA Deputy Director Bui Duy Quang stressed the importance of helping businesses overcome challenges, increase production and stimulate consumer demand for economic growth.
"Vietnamese Goods Week plays an important role in promoting traditional handicrafts, local specialties and Hanoi's tourism potential. The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has facilitated businesses and cooperatives from across the country to participate in the week, helping those who are struggling to sell agricultural products and goods," Quang said.
He added that this initiative gives consumers more opportunities to access quality products. "The week-long event is not only a commercial opportunity, but also a place to showcase Vietnam's diverse culture to both locals and international visitors."
By strengthening the connection between trade and tourism, the event aims to boost the local economy and enhance Hanoi's status as a key destination for both business and tourism.
The week also provides an opportunity to explore products, assess production capacity and identify potential suppliers for distribution networks. It also facilitates negotiations, the signing of partnership agreements and contracts for product supply and consumption.

As part of the event, there will also be culinary activities, a tea space, and an area to experience traditional crafts. Tran Thu Thao, a local from Thanh Xuan District, shared her appreciation for Vietnamese products. "I bought Cao Bang black jelly and rice spring rolls. I always prefer and use Vietnamese products because I trust their quality," Thao told The Hanoi Times.

Nguyen Thi Minh, a representative of the Chinh Ha Clean Tea Cooperative, said that promoting products in the Hanoi market has proven to be very beneficial.
"This is a valuable opportunity for the cooperative to introduce Tuyen Quang's unique products to consumers in Hanoi, while gaining access to modern retail networks for product distribution. We hope to see more Vietnamese Goods Week to help Tuyen Quang businesses promote their local specialties and conquer the capital's market," Minh told The Hanoi Times.
Visitors, both local and foreign, expressed great enthusiasm for the event. Jonathan Finnegan, an African who has lived in Hanoi for three years, praised Vietnamese products.
"The products displayed here are very interesting and diverse, ranging from food and beverages to decorations. Vietnamese goods are of excellent quality and the agricultural products are fresh and clean. What distinguishes Vietnamese products is their high quality and health benefits, which is why I have so much confidence in them," Jonathan told the Vietnam Government Portal.

Le Van Hien, head of the turmeric starch business in the central province of Ha Tinh, said this is the first time he has introduced products directly to Hanoi consumers. "For a long time, our turmeric starch products have been sold online to Hanoi people. This event is an opportunity for me to connect with sales partners."
According to Chu Kien of Tu Bi Clean Incense Workshop in Quang Phu Cau, in Hanoi's suburban district of Ung Hoa, his incense is being sold in many places during this promotional week. "Our product is just in time for the upcoming traditional Tet holiday and meets the needs of many consumers in Hanoi."
Ha Doan, from the northern mountain province of Bac Kan, told The Hanoi Times that he decided to buy some household items for his family to use during the Tet holiday when he visited Vietnamese Goods Week 2024. "I think the prices are affordable and the quality is guaranteed," he said.
