A lower GDP growth target is inevitable as the Covid-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc on the world economy, said Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.

The development of a Covid-19 vaccine is necessary for the Vietnam's economy to return to its pre-Covid-19 status.

By being ahead of the curve of the Covid-19 crisis, Vietnam has the unique opportunity to increase its footprint on the global economy, said a World Bank’s senior executive.

Vietnam’s top leaders, who are selected at the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party, will drive the country towards its socio-economic development targets as well as multilateral goals around peace, security and prosperity in the region and globally.

Vietnam has been successful in containing Covid-19 and has benefited from fiscal measures supporting public investment and robust foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.
