The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade is expected to stockpile VND39.5 trillion ($1.6 billion) worth of basic necessities for the upcoming festive period, up 15% from last year's holiday.

Over 500 businesses have participated in the Hanoi Promotion Month, with 2,000 products subject to discounts of up to 70%.

Hanoi's retail sales of consumer goods and services reached VND567.5 trillion (US$23.4 billion) in the first 10 months of 2023, up 28.8% year-on-year.

Local consumers are not just looking for places to shop, but also a complete experience, including entertainment and eating out.

More than 1,300 retail outlets in Hanoi were open from the first to the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, instead of remaining closed as is usually the case.
