The trade ministry has decided to cut electricity tariffs for certain customers by 10% for the next three months to support economic activities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Increasing electricity demand required by the fast-growing economy forces Vietnam to be hurried in upgrading smart grid indexes.

The government requests no power price hike to serve the recovery plans.

The plant, which generates approximately 7.3 billion kWh/year, will largely meet the demand for electricity in the Southwestern region.

About 4,350 MW more electricity is needed in the north of the country.
