The Vietnam Coast Guard now holds an important position in Vietnam’s overall maritime strategy.

The vessel is transferred to Vietnam under the US Excess Defense Articles (EDA) program that offers excess military equipment to US partner and allied countries.

This is the second US Hamilton-class ship donated by the US government.

In the past thirty years, Washington has joined the world chorus in recognition of Vietnam as a responsible member of the international community.
