This is the first overseas trip paid by the Lao top lawmaker since he took office in January 2021.

The two countries will jointly hold activities to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam- Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in 2022.

With Vietnam’s assistance, Laos will be able to develop the maritime economics of Southeast Asia’s only landlocked country.

Over the past five years, Vietnamese investors have contributed more than US$1 billion to Lao state coffer and approximately $80 million to social welfare programs.
